3 weeks after surgery: At this point, you should be able to walk for more than 10 minutes at a time, without a walker or crutches. Your physical therapist may challenge you to go on longer walks and stop using an assistive device like a cane.

After going back home, you should walk at least 25 feet and climb stairs using walking devices. You should ensure minimal use of walking devices to carry out your daily routine. Don’t stop the exercises prescribed by the doctor and start sitting and standing from one chair to another.

After total knee replacement surgery you will be able to get out of bed and fully weight bear on your new knee within 24 hours but you may need to use a frame, crutches or sticks for the first few days. Sometimes the pain, limited motion, and joint degeneration are too severe, and surgery is necessary to restore optimal function of your knee.

5- The closer your knee range of motion is to normal following knee replacement, the more functional your knee will be for all activities (not just walking). 6- There is a limited time period (6 weeks) after a knee replacement for a patient to reliably regain range of motion.

That bone removal site can ache for months. If you walk around without any protection for your new knee you will likely inflame and aggravate the bones. This can cause a person to have a real problem controlling their pain. All things considered you don’t want to be dealing with more pain than is already associated with the post surgical period.
