Walk-in clinics should be able to prescribe antidepressants since medical doctors are on staff. You would be asked questions about your symptoms and a determination would be made as to the best medication and a prescription written. My best guess would be Fluoxetine as it is widely prescribed and generally effective.

And i hope not! responsibly treating someone with anti-depressants requires first, a reliable diagnosis that is determined by a detailed history, and second, careful followup to be sure the medicine is working and evaluating that medicine for possible side effects. Most walk-in clinics don't have the time to do that.

SSRIs aren't targeted or controlled substances, so they don't fall under that "we won't prescribe" disclaimer a lot of walk-in clinics have. That being said, SSRIs aren't usually first-line treatment for depression (ime) and, like others have said, I don't know if a doctor would prescribe one without the ability to follow up.

Yes, you can totally get an antidepressant on the first visit but you have to go to someone's office. I can't imagine a walk in clinic would do something like this.

Yes, if you go to any walk in clinic, they'll be able to start the process. My experience was my walk in clinic doctor started me on antidepressants, while also putting through a referral for a psychiatrist in the meantime.

Emergency Departments, Urgent Care clinics, and walk in clinics especially are reluctant to prescribe any kinds of medications which might be addictive, and many medications for acute anxiety are Schedule IV medications, and not ones usually prescribed in these settings. I recommend you find a Psychiatrist in your area and get an evaluation.
